A partnership has been launched between the International Section of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the National Forum. The partnership focuses on supporting the professional development of staff through international mobility and recognising disciplinary excellence in learning, teaching and assessment (DELTA). Building on the HEA’s existing Erasmus+ mobility process, the Erasmus+ DELTA Scholarship will provide national recognition to those staff who use their period abroad to enhance teaching and learning within their disciplines.
The Erasmus+ DELTA Scholarships will be piloted in early 2019. Commenting on the launch, Dr Terry Maguire, Director of the National Forum, said, “it is wonderful to partner with the International Section of the HEA on this initiative. The partnership allows us to work together towards the realisation of mutual goals. Supporting the professional development of all staff who teach in higher education has long been a priority for the National Forum and we know that disciplines are key units of change for teaching and learning enhancement. Recognising that higher education institutions are the primary drivers of internationalisation in higher education, this partnership also reflects the policy cohesion and efforts towards internationally-oriented higher education institutions aspired to in the International Education Strategy for Ireland 2016-2020”.
In recognition of the crucial role played by international offices across the country in supporting internationalisation through the provision of mobility periods abroad, the partnership was launched at the Erasmus+ Information and Training Day held at the Gresham Hotel in Dublin on November 1st.
