Overview

This T&L initiative provides a model for teaching and learning enhancement at disciplinary level and supports leadership in its implementation. A key focus will be laying the foundation for engagement with the DELTA Framework and awards process. The project will address a key goal of LIT’s Teaching and Learning Strategy to “anchor departmental and disciplinary teaching and learning approaches to the institutional teaching and learning framework.”

An Academic Developer with experience of participating in the DELTA awards will collaborate with departments to support and assist the development of disciplinary-specific enhancement initiatives. This is key to bringing the potential of the DELTA framework to disciplinary teams that have not engaged to date. This will ensure a coordinated and consistent approach maximising the benefit of the fund to the Institute.

In aligning with both the DELTA framework and our Teaching and Learning Strategy Key outputs will include:

1. Enabling the development, implementation and evaluation of disciplinary specific strategies and approaches to Active Learning
2. The development of innovative approaches to assessment that lead to greater engagement and successful achievement of learning outcomes
3. The development of integrated unaccredited CPD opportunities and the development of a credited CPD opportunity as an output that will have impact well beyond the project life
4. A structured approach to the dissemination of insights, findings and resources that emerge during the project

The emergence of Disciplinary excellence is enabled by this approach and the preparation of teams for engagement with the DELTA awards process is a natural progression.
