Overview

The digital badged blended learning award aims to create the right circumstances and an empowering setting to realise the potential for digital badges within WIT. This T&L initiative is a pilot project to enable WIT staff in designing, developing and delivering their own digital badges.

The work will begin with a review of Digital Badge quality framework implementations in other HEIs, in Ireland and overseas. The WIT quality framework will then require a series of consultations with practitioners, technologists and the Academic Council (through the Learning & Teaching and AC Quality committees).

The framework will include the scope and path to realising WIT Digital Badges. Ultimately, WIT digital badges should lead to a higher sense of achievement for our students (inward looking badges), as well as an increased engagement with our wider community (outward-facing badges).

To both reach a wider audience and also to demonstrate feasibility, the new award from this work (a digital badge for developing quality assured digital badge awards) will be delivered in blended (block and online) form.
