The DCU Teaching Enhancement Unit held their annual Teaching & Learning week earlier this semester, the theme of which was “Teaching and Learning in Turbulent Times: Recognising Diversity and Promoting Inclusion” The keynote address by Dr Jennifer Fraser & Kelsea Costin, University of Westminster focused on “Fostering decolonial and anti-racist pedagogical spaces of possibility through student-staff partnerships” and considered how we can develop principles and practices to support socially just student-staff partnerships. As part of the week, the TEU Decolonising & Diversifying the Curriculum Toolkit was launched which we hope will be a continually evolving source of reflection and support in this area of curriculum design.
Alongside presentations form DCU staff on a range of topics from Decolonising the Language Teacher Education Curriculum to Teaching and studying the Politics of India and South Asia, we hosted two external events. A series of webinars on VR-HEd:SETS – Virtual Reality in Higher Education: Sharing Educational Tips and Stories was launched, and a session on Interactive Oral Assessment featured examples of IO implementation across DCU and a number of other HEIs.
