On January 29th 2026 TUS Open Press launched: Your Essay Builder: Clear Steps to Plan and Structure Your Essay. This Pressbook, created by Róisín Kelly, TUS Student Resource Centre Team, supports students in planning their work thereby reducing overwhelm. It breaks essay writing into clear, manageable steps so students can plan and structure their work with confidence.
Roisin has used her years of experience working with students to create a self-directed, interactive, multi-modal resource which is underpinned by Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. Roisin shares her experience as follows: “Creating this Pressbook allowed me to bring together practical strategies that support students with planning and structuring essays, while also making the resource Open for reuse and adaptation across higher education.”
Your Essay Builder has been chosen by Pressbooks as their Book of the Month for February 2026. It boasts strong usage metrics since its release, having been accessed by over 1,000 visitors to date. It has also been cloned on the Pressbooks network 5 times, at the time of writing, which highlights the strong reuse and adaptation potential of this OER.
TUS Open Press is committed to publishing OER which supports inclusive teaching and learning practices, having also published a Sensory Awareness Guide in 2025.
