A total of 29,929 staff and students shared their digital experiences through the recent Irish National Digital Experience (INDEx) Survey, Ireland’s first survey of the digital experience, expectations and engagement of students, and staff who teach, in Irish higher education. The survey was open across 34 participating higher education institutions from 14 November until 1 December and was co-ordinated by the National Forum in collaboration with every university, institute of technology and several private colleges across the sector.
The 25,484 completed student responses and 4,445 completed staff responses will now contribute to a better understanding of how students and staff interact with digital technologies in their teaching and learning and to the evidence that informs important policies, practices and decision-making around digital teaching and learning within and across institutions. Participating institutions are currently exploring their own datasets, and the national dataset will be analysed over the coming months, with the national findings due to be published in spring 2020.
