On Thursday 1st May MISU President, Aisling Knox, launched the latest series of MIC case studies of innovative academic practice, funded by the HEA and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education under the Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement (SATLE) fund. These case studies, gathered from MIC educators, showcase a range of digital and/or technical tools utilised in the College to support learning. Hosted on the MIC Learning Enhancement and Academic Development (LEAD) website (linked here), the case studies are a multimodal exploration of a range of innovative teaching and learning strategies which have been effectively employed by MIC educators across the Faculties. Each case study provides a detailed description of the approaches implemented, the benefits and challenges of such approaches, and tips for those who wish to implement similar approaches in their own teaching. In addition, resources such as grading rubrics and assessment forms, have kindly been shared by the teaching staff in these case studies.

- Video analysis to promote innovative pedagogical approaches in the context of Múineadh na Gaeilge – Dr Conchúr Ó Brolcháin (click here for Conchúr’s case study)
- Digital mind maps as a tool to support student learning – Dr Fionnuala Tynan (click here for Fionnuala’s case study)
Case studies were developed by the case study authors with the support of Dr Jean Reale and Dr Laura Costelloe, Assistant Professors in Academic Practice, LEAD.
