The annual Maynooth University Teaching & Learning Showcase was held on May 13th, 2026, celebrating innovation, creativity and collaboration in teaching and learning across the university. The event brought together colleagues for a day of inspiring discussions and sharing of teaching practice.
The programme featured keynote presentations from Professor Naomi Winstone (University of Surrey) and Professor Jessie L. Moore (Elon University). Their presentations explored themes of assessment and feedback in the age of generative AI, and the development of agile, transferable and student-centred learning approaches.
MU Teaching and Learning Fellowship presentations highlighted a wide range of themes including authentic assessment, communities of scholarship, online learning, emotionally complex teaching contexts, student self-assessment, structured writing support in STEM, and the opportunities and challenges of GenAI in higher education.
A vibrant Interactive Poster Session showcased 55 posters from over 81 colleagues, demonstrating the breadth of teaching and learning practice and innovation taking place across the university. The event also included the announcement of the 2026–2027 Teaching and Learning Fellowship and Sparks Awards and concluded with the launch of the Literature Review and accompanying Executive Summary Teaching as a Scholarly Act.
The Showcase once again confirmed its importance within Maynooth University as a key space for fostering collaboration, pedagogical innovation, and professional dialogue across the university.
