GEOTEaCH is an all Island initiative, Its purpose is to strategically target undergraduate geotechnical engineering education by developing online resources that make the subject engaging, relevant and fun. To date circa 25 videos covering the essentials of soil mechanics are freely available on YouTube (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4p6rp1knVY and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvIBR8wwyjI ).
Further resources are currently under development including an online forum for sharing of ideas and resources. The availability of these resources allows for better use student contact time; classes can now be spent guiding the interpretation and application of the principles of soil mechanics to solve meaningful, contextualised and open ended real world problems.
