The website is now live for the Irish National Digital Experience (INDEx) Survey: teachingandlearning.ie/index. The Survey will be launched on 14 October, 2019. The INDEx Survey is a national survey of the digital engagement, experiences and expectations of students and staff who teach in Irish higher education. The survey will be coordinated by the National Forum, working in partnership with 28 participating higher education institutions.
The INDEx Survey will take place between October 14th and December 1st, 2019. Each participating institution will run the survey during a 3-week window within this national survey period. Students and staff will receive invitations to participate in the survey via email at their institution. Participation in the survey is completely voluntary and anonymous.
The new website contains information about the upcoming survey, including a list of participating institutions, frequently asked questions and the dates on which the survey will run in each institution. Five institutions will open their surveys on October 14th and others will follow in later weeks.
The objectives of the survey are to gain greater understanding about the digital experiences and expectations of students and staff who teach – and what makes a difference to students and staff who teach with respect to digital infrastructure, digital skills, digital tools and digital literacies – all with the aim of enhancing learning and teaching.
As Ireland’s first national dataset on the digital experience of staff and students, the INDEx Survey findings will be a key source of evidence for decision-making regarding policy and practice at national and local level.
