Conference Sold Out But Some Sessions Live Streamed
The National Forum is the national sponsor of the 10th Annual Open Educational Resources (OER) Conference which Ireland will host for the first time when it opens tomorrow Wednesday 10 April 2019 in the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Themed Recentering Open: Critical and Global Perspectives, this international two-day conference will focus on critical approaches to open education and will explore how it can improve educational access, effectiveness, and equality. Key issues from the conference programme include the geopolitics of open education and an exploration of whose interests open education serves. Current risks and challenges to the open education agenda will also be explored.
Keynote speakers include: Dr Kate Bowles (University of Wollongong); Dr Su-ming Khoo (NUI Galway); Taskeen Adam (University of Cambridge); Caroline Kuhn (Bath Spa University); and Judith Pete (Catholic University of Eastern Africa).
The National Forum has a strong conference line- up: Dr Catherine Cronin, Strategic Education Developer will act as conference co-chair, director Dr Terry Maguire will address the conference on the National Forum’s open education work to date while Lee O’ Farrell, Data-enabled Student Success Initiative National Co-ordinator will be a panellist.
