Dr Terry Maguire, Director of the National Forum will address the Bologna Advisory Group on Teaching and Learning from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) when it meets today (Tuesday, 9 April 2019) in Paris.
Ireland’s National Forum has been invited by the Group as a best practice model for other European countries to strengthen teaching and learning approaches in higher education. Ireland’s successful approaches to teaching and learning enhancement, such as its focus on empowering students in teaching and learning, are expected to inform key recommendations to the Group.
The Advisory Group on Teaching and Learning has a remit to develop concise principles for innovative and inclusive approaches in learning and teaching, in collaboration with stakeholders. It is developing actions and gathering best-practice examples of how governments can support institutions to develop, enhance and implement strategies for teaching and learning within higher education institutions while respecting academic freedom and institutional autonomy.
Dr Maguire will meet with representatives from 15 European member states who have been tasked with developing recommendations for Europe’s Ministers on how higher education policy can best be shaped to prepare higher education institutions for the future.
