Oisín is the Vice President for Academic Affairs with the Union of Students in Ireland (USI), the national organisation representing over 374,000 on both sides of the border.
He is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast in Law with Politics, and has begun an LLM in Law and Governance. He previously served as Vice President Equality and Diversity (2015/16) and Vice President Education (2016/17) in Queen’s University Belfast Students’ Union, before election to USI.
His interests include developing the student voice in quality enhancement, building capacity in Students’ Union’s to engage in this work, and embedding an ethos of students as partners across Ireland.
In his role, some of Oisín’s priorities for the year are lobbying for publicly-funded third level education, developing a Postgraduate Students’ Network, further development and growth of the National Student Engagement Programme, the creation of a national Student Charter, engaging students in Further Education, and continuing USI’s work with student leaders from across the European Higher Education Area.
Oisín is a member of the QQI Board, and also works with various partners of USI, including SUSI, the HEA, ISSE, and the National Forum.
