1. In PART I (30 minutes) MS & SE will offer their perspectives on “Pedagogy in Transition”. They will argue that now a point of transition has been reached at which the “arts … can serve as models of what educational aspiration and practice might be at its very best” (Eisner). They will highlight the significant contributions the performing arts, especially Theatre, can make to Education, and introduce participants to the theoretical assumptions underlying the innovative concept of performative teaching and learning.
2. In PART II (30 minutes) MS & SE will demonstrate aspects of a ‘performative pedagogy’ which aims to facilitate the transition from the prevailing cognitive orientation in education to a holistic understanding of “teaching and learning with head, heart, hands and feet” (Schewe).
3. PART III consist of a Panel Discussion. Members of the panel will include conference keynote speakers who will respond to the seminar/workshop leaders’ presentation and demonstration and, from the perspective of their disciplines, offer their thoughts on ‘Pedagogy in Transition’.
