Event Details:
In an increasingly interconnected world, the transition from college to work (and life itself) requires students to form a capacity for lifelong learning and habits of mind to make meaningful connections in their learning. The development of this capacity must not be left to the assumption that students will pull the pieces of their education together if all students are to meet such challenges. Through case studies and a panel discussion, this seminar supports the capacity of educators to make the transition to curriculum design that places integrative learning at the core of third level education.
Learning Outcomes:
- To act as a primer to integrative learning and its relevance to Higher Education;
- To provide a practical resource to help Higher Education staff to effectively research pedagogies to counter the potential fragmentation of the teaching and learning experience;
- To provide a showcase of discipline-specific interventions designed to foster student capacities to integrate their learning in a variety of situations;
- To provide practical guidance on how to assess that student integration of knowledge has occurred;
- To stimulate discussion on the design, enactment and assessment of curricula and their fit with the demands of a complex, interconnected and uncertain world.
