Event Details:

The aim of the seminar is to help staff to develop the necessary strategies and skills to support the development of information literacy (IL) in students transitioning from second level to third level.

The seminar will begin by highlighting the importance of IL and will include an overview of best practice IL initiatives in Irish HE. The seminar will then review some strategies and resources that can be used in information literacy teaching to help those students transitioning to higher education. The event will also include workshops and will have a practical emphasis; it will focus on equipping participants with the skills to facilitate the development of students‚ IL skills and will enhance practitioners‚ knowledge and understanding of IL enabling them to demonstrate to students‚ the relevance of IL competencies. The seminar will include testimonials from students and graduates on how they have developed their IL skills and how it has benefited their academic lives and their transition to employment and/or societal progression. The event will be recorded and can be available later via multiple platforms to be used as a resource to support ongoing development and initiatives in the area of IL.
