Event Details:

Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), University College Cork (UCC) and the Institute of Technology, Tralee (ITT) are collaborating to showcase and evaluate a range of Transition Initiatives in an Online Seminar.  Participants will access the live presentations remotely and have the option to contribute via Twitter #collectivewisdom and Instant Messaging (IM).

The presentations will cover examples of how students are assisted to cope with the transition experience and the new responsibilities higher education brings will be presented and critiqued.

Initiatives range from engagement with 2nd level Transition Year Students, Freshers and the wider student body.

Social and academic engagement and the relationships between these will be explored.

The goal is to provide opportunities to reflect on what initiatives/approaches are successful and why.

The voices and perspectives of student, academic and others will be considered since any mismatch between the messages ‘transmitted’ and those ‘received’ may compromise successful engagement.

The focus will be on critiquing evidenced based perspectives of these initiatives.
