SUMMARY:Learning Communities - how to initiate and support a culture of shared practice
DESCRIPTION:In the last three years we have established and developed over 30 learning communities whereby over 300 staff members across 40 departments have either initiated or joined a LC. These range from discipline specific to programme specific groups as well as LCs that are focused on cross departmental thematic areas such as active learning or work placement. \nDuring this event\, we will outline how we set about fostering a culture whereby LCs can thrive\, and what we have learnt about the challenges and supports needed to develop and support LCs. We will also feature a number of staff members who are active LC members who will showcase how their LCs function and what projects / outputs they have undertaken as a result. We will finish with an interactive Q&A session allowing online participants to learn more from our LC ambassadors. \nFocus of event \n\nStrategic institutional discussions about the place of teaching and learning within local policy and decision-making and how the value of teaching and learning can be strengthened\nSharing and valuing ongoing teaching and learning enhancement work\nLeveraging partnerships between those who teach and their students\, as well as the wider educational community\, to foster collective advocacy in strengthening the value placed on teaching and learning\n\nClick here to register
