The National Forum is delighted to present Ireland’s Higher Education Technical Infrastructure. A Review of Current Context, with Implications for Teaching and Learning Enhancement. This report provides a detailed snapshot of the current state-of-play of the technology infrastructure which supports teaching and learning in Irish higher education. This is the first time such a comprehensive review has been undertaken. By drawing a clear picture of capacity throughout the sector, it provides an invaluable reference point on which future strategy and academic practice can be built. The review enhances and informs the work of the National Forum in helping Irish higher education institutions achieve a coherent digital future.
The Review finds that the appetite for innovation in the sector is high and opportunities to innovate and enhance using digital technology have been taken, often collaboratively, to deliver greater value for money. The report sets the scene for further and more widespread developments in this space. It concludes with key insights and recommendations to help leaders and Institutions in higher education use enabling technology to help maximise the potential of all our students.
