SUMMARY:Science Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) 2021 Online Conference
DESCRIPTION:The National Forum is delighted to support the Science Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) 2021 Conference\, to be hosted online on 01 October by Athlone Institute of Technology\, Dundalk Institute of Technology and Waterford Institute of Technology. This is the fourth in a series of SURE Conferences. Students from throughout Ireland who are completing their final year project in a science discipline in 2020-21 are invited to submit their undergraduate research work to this conference. \nThe aims of the SURE conference is to: \n\nProvide current students with an opportunity to gain an understanding of the work which has been undertaken by recent graduates\, and the career opportunities that exist for graduates in Scientific disciplines.\nProvide recent graduates with an opportunity to gain a reviewed publication based on the scientific research undertaken by them during their undergraduate studies.\nCelebrate the academic achievements of recent graduates in the scientific disciplines.\nProvide a multi-disciplinary scientific forum through which undergraduate research outputs can be disseminated to students\, researchers\, academic professionals and industry.\n\nThe conference offers students an important opportunity to share their research on a national stage and engage with the process of presenting their research at a scientific conference. An opportunity made all the more valuable given the circumstances this year. There is also an opportunity for students to see a range of research and career opportunities while attending the conference. \nThe SURE 2021 Presentation for Students and SURE 2021 Flyer can be used by lecturers to promote involvement in the conference. \nAcademic members of staff wishing to participate in the review process can submit their details here\, by Friday\, 14th May 2021. \nView more details and register here.

DESCRIPTION:The National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in partnership with the Higher Education Authority invites you to the online launch of a new resource ‘Seven Cs for Embedding Student Success: A Toolkit for Higher Education Institutions’ designed to support the sustainable enhancement of student success across the sector. We are delighted that the Minister for Further and Higher Education\, Research\, Innovation and Science\, Simon Harris TD\, will formally launch the resource.   \nThe Seven Cs for Embedding Student Success: A Toolkit for Higher Education Institutions will assist local higher education communities as they reflect on student success\, prompt meaningful conversations across institutions that will focus on what student success means within the context of their institution while collaboratively agreeing approaches that support the continual enhancement of student success into the future. DESCRIPTION:A National Forum ‘Introduction to DELTA’ information webinar will be hosted on ​08 October 2021 from 12.00 – 1​3.00. \nThe Disciplinary Excellence in Learning\, Teaching and Assessment (DELTA) Award is presented to discipline groups who can demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching and learning enhancement and who commit to an ongoing\, clearly articulated\, shared process of continued enhancement. The DELTA Award is the only team award in the national learning impact awards. The DELTA Award process aims to facilitate recognition at a discipline level and to bring good practice to a wider audience\, as an essential part of valuing teaching and learning within higher education communities. ​ \nThis webinar will provide an overview of the DELTA Award application and review process and will include insights from a successful DELTA Award winning team lead\, Dr Helen McGuirk\, MTU. SUMMARY:Supporting Wellbeing in Practice
DESCRIPTION:The Union of Students Ireland with the support of the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education invites you to the online webinar on “Supporting Wellbeing in Practice” across the sector.   \nThe Union of Students in Ireland (USI) and the National Forum partnered on a very exciting research project beginning in January 2021 that examined the practice of embedding wellbeing in the curriculum in higher education in Ireland. The project set out to capture how wellbeing is currently being embedded in the curricula of higher education institutions nationally and internationally and identify features of good practice. The research has culminated in a report completed by Dr Jessica Surdey and Dr Deirdre Byrne which discusses the key insights gained from the study and exemplars of good practice identified. This report will be launched at the event.  \nThe project was complemented by a working group chaired by the USI President created by the Minister for Further and Higher Education\, Simon Harris T.D.\, to identify\, refine and implement strategies to enhance student engagement and wellbeing.  \nThis event will feature lightning talks from the leaders of innovative projects around student mental health that have built the evidence base for the sector.
