DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On Tuesday and Wednesday\, 11-12 February you have the opportunity to watch a live-stream of the 2018 National Forum Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund projects. The live-stream will be available for all 16 project review presentations starting at 9.00 until 14.45 each day. \nThese projects were selected for funding as new initiatives with the potential to enhance teaching and learning in Irish higher education. All of the projects reflect one of the National Forum’s four strategic priorities. Each presentation takes 15 minutes and might provide the spark for ideas for projects you have been considering as well. From 1995 to 2005 he was head of the international department of the German Rectors Conference in Bonn and from 2006 till 2010 he worked in the higher education unit of the European Commission in Brussels. Since then he is back with the German Rectors‚ Conference\, where he is in charge of the education department\, dealing inter alia with the implementation of the Bologna Process in German higher education institutions\, qualifications frameworks\, the shift from teaching to learning‚ how to increase completion rates in HE\, cooperation with employers‚ associations on higher education issues\, etc.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”38504″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Clare Furneaux \nClare Furneaux is a British National Teaching Fellow\, and Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Reading\, UK\, where she is also a Dean for Teaching and Learning\, with responsibility for the student experience. \nClare’s background is in English Language Teaching (ELT); she taught in Malaysia\, Jordan\, China\, Nepal and Japan before joining Reading. Within the University’s Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics\, Clare has taught academic courses on literacy to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is Associate Professor and former Head of the Medical Unit (2004-2018) at the School of Medicine\, University of Minho. Manuel does research in Teaching Methods\, Science Education and Higher Education. His primary research areas are medical education and biochemistry and molecular biology education. He is founder and coordinator of the Centre “IDEA-UMINHO”\, Minho’s university centre for innovation and development of teaching and learning. He is founder and currently member of the Board National Network for Research in Medical Education\, appointed member to education committee of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and former delegate for the research committee of the Association for Medical Education in Europe. He is member of the Board of the Spanish Society for Medical Education (SEDEM). Prior to joining USI in July 2019\, Kevin served as a student officer for Ulster University Students’ Union (UUSU) for three years\, of which he served two as the overall President of the Students’ Union.\n\nKevin is a Journalism with French graduate\, and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK. SUMMARY:2020 European Learning & Teaching Forum
DESCRIPTION:The 2020 European Learning & Teaching Forum explores how institutions balance tried and trusted practices and innovative approaches to learning and teaching in a dynamic and increasingly digital and international environment. Through a mix of plenary and parallel sessions\, the Forum provides a platform for discussion on how universities enhance learning and teaching\, while also presenting the work of the 2019 EUA Learning & Teaching Thematic Peer Groups. The Forum is an ideal event for vice-rectors for academic affairs\, deans\, and management involved in learning and teaching. SUMMARY:Exploring Models of Success: Professional Development of Staff in FET\, HE and ELE
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 13 February 2020\n   09.00 – 16.30 \nHogan Suite\, Croke Park Conference Centre\, Croke Park\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nQuality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) will host a one-day conference on Thursday 13 February 2020 to explore the importance of Professional Development of staff  in improving the quality of teaching and learning\, educational management and other areas. \nThe conference is aimed at policy-makers\, academic management\, front-line educators\, support staff and quality assurance teams from across the higher education\, further education and training\, and English Language Education sectors who wish to better understand the importance of personal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in a high-quality teaching and learning environment. \nDelegates will learn from the experience of national and international speakers through keynote addresses\, workshop sessions\, panel discussions and cross-sectoral networking opportunities with peers.  Themes covered will include: \n\nDifferent national staff development frameworks and CPD models\nBest practice from a range of education and training providers\nPolicies\, practices and frameworks developed by agencies and other supporting organisations to promote staff development\nNational and international models of successful practice\nCPD for academic and professional services staff\nThe approach of professional bodies to CPD\nDeveloping talent and leadership\nDigital badging and micro-credentials to support staff development\nTools to ensure staff engage with authentic\, inclusive and collaborative professional development opportunities\n\nThis event is part of QQI’s series of quality improvement engagements with its stakeholders and brings together respected experts from each of the above sectors for a day of networking\, mutual learning and opportunities to show best practice in all sectors.  It is informed by advice on CPD contained in the QQI Core Quality Assurance Guidelines and the various professional development frameworks that have been adopted in different sectors. \nThe conference delegate rate is €100. \nTo book your place at our conference\, please visit our eventbrite page here.
