DESCRIPTION:The 25th EdTech conference takes place on Wednesday\, 3 June and Thursday\, 4 June 2026\, at Dublin City University’s (DCU) historic St Patrick’s Campus\, in Drumcondra\, Dublin\, Ireland. Hosted by the Irish Learning Technology Association (ILTA)\, the conference co-chairs are Dr Rob Lowney from the DCU Teaching Enhancement Unit and Kate Molloy\, PhD scholar in the DCU School of STEM Education\, Innovation and Global Studies. \nThe theme is “EdTech You: Digital learning from how to who” – that aims to centre and celebrate the people of EdTech as well as the work they do. \nThe conference website contains a timeline of key dates\, as well as details of the three keynote speakers – Dr Abeba Birhane\, Dr Ben Williamson and Prof Felicitas Macgilchrist – and other general conference information\, such as the call for abstracts and registration details. \nAbstract proposals can be submitted via ConfTool before the deadline for: \n\nPractitioner papers\nResearch papers\nGasta (lightning) talks\nPosters\nWorkshops\nDoctoral roundtable\n\nThe EdTech Conference brings together educators\, researchers\, technology and student support staff\, and industry professionals to share and explore the use of technology in education. SUMMARY:Virtual Exchange / Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) – a practical tool for Education for Sustainable Development
DESCRIPTION:This webinar – led by TU Dublin and supported by the National Forum for Teaching and Learning – seeks to share practical insights into the use of Virtual Exchanges (VE)\, which are also known as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). \nMany programmes seek to expand students’ world view and their awareness of global challenges\, however in-person exchanges are expensive and also have a negative impact on carbon emissions. Virtual Exchanges are a useful tool to foster global collaboration and intercultural understanding by connecting students and educators across borders\, promoting critical thinking\, empathy\, and shared problem-solving skills essential for advancing Education for Sustainable Development.  VE also offers an opportunity to link in a meaningful manner with students and Universities in the global south. \nIn this webinar\, academics with years of experience of using Virtual Exchanges will share their experience of organising and delivering virtual exchanges. \nThe webinar will be opened by Dr Brian Gormley\, Head of Sustainability Education in TU Dublin. \nSpeakers will include: \n\nProf Niamh Murphy and Dr Jenny O’Connor\, School of Health Sciences and School of Humanities\, SETU. His work focuses on improving assessment while addressing integrity challenges and emerging technologies.  \n  \nSeminar Description  \n“Where is the line? Re-thinking assessment design for a time of artificial intelligence”  \nArtificial intelligence can now generate outputs that meet the requirements of high-stakes assessments in fields like computing\, health professions\, business and engineering. This has sparked concerns about students using AI inappropriately to complete tasks\, misrepresenting their abilities. It also raises deeper questions about the sustainability and authenticity of current assessment practices. Students and staff are justified in asking: where is the line between acceptable and unacceptable uses of AI in assessment? This presentation examines how assessment must evolve in response to AI. It draws on the presenter’s work as one of the leaders of Assessment Reform for a Time of Artificial Intelligence\, a major Australian project funded by the national higher education regulator. DESCRIPTION:The Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences is pleased to invite you to attend the launch of two innovative Social Justice Pedagogy toolkits for Teacher Educators and Preservice Teachers. One of them being an outcome from one SATLE project. \n  \nDate: Wednesday\, April 30 12h30 – 13h15 \nVenue: P1007 (PESS Building\, University of Limerick) \n\nThe toolkits have been designed as resources to support teacher educators\, teachers in post-primary schools and preservice teachers willing to embrace social justice pedagogies. Testimonials\, case studies\, visual prompts\, and related activities are some of the elements that the toolkits include\, to address social justice matters such as genderism\, sexism\, ableism and classism\, as they relate to physical education and the wider context. \nThe projects were funded by Research Ireland through the New Foundations scheme (Justice Ed) and funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and the Higher Education Authority (SATLE). The Co-PIs of the SATLE project are Dr Carmen Barquero-Ruiz and Dr Antonio Calderón. The Co-PIs of the Justice Ed project are Prof Elaine Murtagh and Dr Antonio Calderón. The Justice Ed toolkit was designed by members of the Sport Pedagogy Research group in collaboration with researchers and pre-services teachers from Ulster University\, Deakin University\, University of Melbourne\, Kent State University and the Development Studies Association of Ireland.

DESCRIPTION:2030 and beyond: towards responsive and adaptable higher education \nIt has become an accepted fact\, if not a truism\, that we are undergoing a period of change and\ndisruption that poses numerous challenges to higher education\, as well as for society at large.\nBuilding agility for unknown challenges that may emerge is thus a key issue for higher education\nlearning and teaching. How can we prepare our students\, teachers and institutions for the path\nahead? Participants in this future-gazing edition of the European Learning & Teaching Forum will\njointly discuss strategies to develop future-readiness in and through learning and teaching. Key\nquestions include how higher education can safeguard its relevance through capacity for\nadaptation and how graduates can be equipped with responsive and adaptable mindsets. \nThrough a mix of plenary and parallel sessions\, the Forum provides a platform for discussion and\nexchange of practice on how universities enhance learning and teaching.
