SUMMARY:Work-based Assessment: Getting to Grips with Policies and Practices
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The ‘Work-based Assessment: Getting to Grips with Policies and Practices’ symposium marks the culmination of a National Forum\, and Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) partnership that has led to a series of events throughout 2020 titled ‘Work-based Assessment: Exploring Critical Issues and Sharing Solutions’. The symposium will run from 10am- 3pm on 19 November next. \nThis event will build on learning from conversations that have taken place during and around the series’ preceding webinars and provide an opportunity to consider actions for sectoral change. It will draw together international and national experts\, key resources\, case studies and use a series of interactive approaches to interrogate this topic across the range of different work-based learning contexts. \nThe speaker line-up features two international guest speakers. Dr Norah McRae of the University of Waterloo\, Canada\, will focus on ‘The Global Work-integrated Learning Framework: Understanding the context for assessment discussions’ . Dr Rola Ajjawi of Deakin University\, Australia\, will explore ‘The Challenges of Authentic and Aligned Assessment in Complex Work Contexts: Ways forward for policy and practice’ . The main guest speaker from the Irish context is Dr Mary Kelly of Hibernia College\, Dublin. Dr Kelly will speak to ‘Work-based Assessment of Competence to Practice – A Holistic Look at Assessment of Occupational Competence in the Teaching Profession’. \nTo date\, the two webinars in this series attracted over 500 registrations in all\, with each webinar involving representatives from across further and higher education. In addition to inputs from the National Forum\, QQI\, and the event series facilitator\, Dr Geraldine O’Neill\, the webinars involved valuable contributions from representatives of Trinity College Dublin\, City of Dublin Education and Training Board\, Accounting Technicians Ireland\, University of Limerick\, and Mayo\, Sligo Leitrim Education and Training Board. \nA full symposium schedule will be circulated within the next two weeks.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Click here to register” color=”green” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-pencil-square-o” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.ie%2Fe%2Fwork-based-assessment-national-symposium-tickets-125471991103||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nPast Webinars\nWebinar 1: Exploring Critical Issues and Sharing Solutions \nWebinar 2: Exploring the Challenge of Consistency \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
