The Supervision and Assessment of Research at Postgraduate Level
This 2017 seminar will build on the success of our 2 previous events also held at NCI.The previous seminars “The Sharing of Experience and Research Relating to the Teaching of Management” and “Innovative Assessment approaches in Business Schools” were well attended and accessed online in 13 HEIs and by circa 100 academics. The 2017 seminar will again be an open event, free of charge, and video conferenced. This will ensure both wide participation and wide dissemination.
The IAM has an established track record in running conferences; over 250 regularly attend the annual conference and significant numbers attend the established Special Interest Group (SIG) events. This seminar will focus on innovative approaches to supervision and assessment. We will recruit speakers who are actively involved in innovative supervision assessment approaches and/or academics who have researched (and published) on related issues. Speakers will discuss their: experience; practice and research in order to support ongoing dialogue among IAM members and the wider academic community.
The presentations will be interactive and focus on applied examples of innovative approaches in action. The presentations (and videos) will be archived and via www.iamireland.ie. Access will be available to all the Business Schools at Ireland’s various HEIs. Attendee will also have access. It is hoped that the seminar will encourage the write-up of existing experience/research, resulting in paper presentations at the IAM conference (QUB, Aug 31st – Sept 2nd 2017). The outcomes of the seminar will inform our SIG on TLA and inform future planning and research activities.
