A Higher Education Health Care Capacity Building Project between UCC and Malawi’

DESCRIPTION

This workshop will explore health-related capacity building initiatives, and international healthcare partnerships, between Ireland and Malawi. Anyone interested in global health matters, the SDGs, international partnerships including linking with NGOs, Higher Education projects and capacity building initiatives should attend. Topics include: the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDSs) around Healthcare, Education and International Partnerships. Health care issues in Malawi, and how UCC can work with Mzuzu University to effect change; Capacity Building initiatives; Epidemiology and Public Health related matters, and the School of Nursing and Midwifery (infant births and mortality rates), and linking with Central Hospital Mzuzu in relation to an asthma-case study initiative as well as teaching and learning initiatives. Speakers include Dr Rosarii Griffin (OVPTL and CGD), Dr Patricia-Leahy Warren (School of Nursing and Midwifery), Colette Cunningham (School of Public Health) and Drs Joe Gallagher and Dr Peter Harrington (Clinical practice/Gorey). This workshop is funded by the National Forum for Teaching and Learning. The UCC-Mzuzu University (Higher Education) Partnership is supported by the Esther Partnership Fund. This event is co-hosted by the Centre for Global Development, and the Office of the VP for Teaching and Learning, UCC. It is free and all are welcome.
